Year 2 Teacher - 2JR/CR

I have been teaching at Webheath Primary School since January 2008.
I am currently a teacher in Year 3 and the PSHE lead.
I love teaching as every day is different! I love to create enjoyable and fun learning experiences within the classroom that creates happy memories for the children I teach that will hopefully last a lifetime.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am a doting grandmother to 3 beautiful granddaughters who I love playing and having fun with. I have a white Boxer dog called Ghost who loves to go on long walks and roll in muddy puddles!

Year 2 Teacher - 2JR/CR

I've been teaching here at Webheath for 8 years now. I've taught across Key Stage 1 and 2. I love teaching all subjects, especially when children can be creative! Outside of school, I am now a mum and enjoy looking after all of my animals! There is a long list, horses ,pigs, chickens, dogs and cows so you will usually always find me in wellies and mud!

Mrs Biddle : Year 2 Teacher - 2CB

Mrs Biddle

Year 2 Teacher - 2CB

I've been teaching at Webheath for many years across Key Stage 1 and 2; and I absolutely love it! Apart from seeing lots of smiley faces everyday, my favourite thing is watching the children have those 'light bulb' moments when they realise they can do it and they build their self belief. Outside of school, I enjoy time with my family and taking my dog, called Rosie, on long walks over the fields.

Mrs Broome : Teaching Assistant Year 2

Mrs Broome

Teaching Assistant Year 2

I've worked as a Teaching Assistant for just over a year, having previously worked at a children's charity for 8 years. What I love about this role is that I feel a huge sense of achievement when helping to support each child on their learning journey and it brings me great joy seeing the difference that I can help to make to their progression and development. In my spare time I'm an avid reader (I love escaping in a good book) and enjoy arts and crafts.

Mrs Greaves : Specialist Teaching Assistant / Year 2 (Reading & Phonics Intervention)

Mrs Greaves

Specialist Teaching Assistant / Year 2 (Reading & Phonics Intervention)

I began working at Webheath in 2009 when my own children were still at the school. I find supporting the children with their learning very rewarding, and have spent time with most year groups over the years. On a personal note, you may see me out and about in the local area, either running, walking or cycling. I do enjoy the outdoors!

Year Group 2 Curriculum coverage

Homework:

On occasions, homework packs are given to children.  These tasks are to reinforce the classroom learning and provide further practise to embed skills.  There are no timeframes for these tasks to be completed.

Reading

Children will continue to bring home a weekly ‘reading for pleasure’ book for you to share and enjoy with your child.  In addition, you can access their weekly Oxford Owl ebook online which matches their phonetic ability to celebrate their reading practise throughout the course of the week in ‘Book Club’.

For those children who are not yet proficient in their phonics, following the Sound!Start Phonics Scheme continues.

Once your child is an established, fluent reader, they may be assigned to Accelerated Reader.  When this is the case, you will be provided with information regarding this to explain the new program which will continue throughout their time at Webheath.

Maths

We follow a mastery approach, working through using concrete materials and manipulatives to enable children to make links within their mathematical understanding.

In Year 2, we focus on all children being able to recall and use the multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables.

Book bags only to be bought into school. We do not have room to store large school bags.
