Chair of Governors Statement

Welcome to Webheath Academy governor webportal. I have been a governor at Webheath Academy since January 2016 and became Chair of Governors in September 2019. My youngest son is currently in Year 3 at Webheath Academy and my eldest son is in his final year at Studley High School. I love watching them develop and progress through their school years and most of my free time is spent enjoying family time.

Professionally, I qualified as a secondary English teacher in 2000 and since then I have been fortunate enough to teach in secondary, high and middle schools, where I formed close links with schools across all tiers, particularly in the Redditch area. Before my current teaching role, I was a member of the Senior Leadership Team for several years but gave this up for part-time teaching in 2017 to support family life. My experiences have enabled me to work closely with pupils across the 3-16 year age range and this has generated my passion for an inclusive education system where children are enabled to flourish and be the best they can be.

The Governors /Trustees of Webheath Academy Primary School are volunteers, committed to ensuring that all the children receive the best education possible. The role of the Governing Board is a strategic one with three key functions:

· Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent;

· Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;

· Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.

Governors at Webheath Primary Academy School play a vital role in supporting the school. As the Chair of Governors, I value working closely with our other governors and I am always keen to listen to the views of all stakeholders particularly our parents.

All of our governors actively encourage feedback from the parents whom we represent. If you have anything you wish to raise, please contact the governors via email to clerk@webheath.worcs.sch.uk alternatively, parents are welcome to join us at our open forum at the beginning of any Full Governing Body meeting. The dates can be found in the school calendar and are included in school newsletters. You are also welcome to catch us on the playground!
