Chair of Governors Statement

Welcome to Webheath Academy Governor webportal. I have been a governor at Webheath Academy since February 2019 and became Chair of Governors in November 2020. I have two children that attend Webheath Academy, they are currently in the Reception and Year 4. I love watching them thrive through learning and understanding what being at school means to them.

My professional day to day role is working in the NHS, I have worked in the NHS for nearly 12 years. My current role is Head of Community Transformation at Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group where I am responsible for the commissioning of a plethora of services within the community such as: community nursing, speech and language, wheelchairs, community beds. Previously I have also commissioned mental health services across Birmingham and worked in both Mental Health and Community NHS providers Trusts across the West Midlands.

My spare time is taken up with the host of activities that come with being a parent and enjoying the family time we have together as much as possible.

Working within the NHS I have had the privilege to really understand the impact of good health services on children and how a good foundation of a school is imperative to a child’s development as part of a whole system holistic approach.

The Governors /Trustees of Webheath Academy Primary School are volunteers, committed to ensuring that all the children receive the best education possible. The role of the Governing Board is a strategic one with three key functions:

· Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent;

· Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;

· Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.

Governors at Webheath Primary Academy School play a vital role in supporting the school. As the Chair of Governors, I value working closely with our other governors and I am always keen to listen to the views of all stakeholders and particularly our parents.

All of our governors actively encourage feedback from the parents whom we represent. If you have anything you wish to raise, please contact the governors via email to clerk@webheath.worcs.sch.uk. Alternatively, parents are welcome to join us at our open forum at the beginning of any Full Governing Body meeting. The dates can be found in the school calender, on Pindigo and are also included in school newsletters. You are also welcome to catch us on the playground!
