Webheath are awarded their 7th Green Flag

Our fantastic Eco Warriors Club meet regularly to lead good practice, monitor and evaluate and drive ideas forward.  They do a great job in developing awareness of the 9 areas of the 'Green Flag Award' to the school and it’s wider community

A huge congratulations to the Eco Warriors and pupils on being awarded their 7th Green Flag Award!  This award recognises the commitment they have shown to addressing environmental issues and consideration to sustainability within daily school life.

Eco-schools is a national initiative that encourages schools to be more aware of their impact on the environment and implement plans to improve their levels of sustainability and it is a highly recognised award.  To met the criteria for such award, the children have addressed all 9 topic areas, which are:

  • Energy
  • water
  • Biodiversity
  • School Grounds
  • Healthy Eating
  • Transport
  • Litter
  • Waste
  • Global Citizenship

The assessor was met by our Eco Warriors, who gave a presentation and a tour of the school to show examples of the school's good practice.  They discussed the improvements to the allotment area and the development of the Learning Garden, showed evidence of monitoring and evaluating the school's energy usage, and showcased how the school is committed to recycling and composting.

Shortly after the assessment, the Eco Warriors were able to share the pleasing news that we had met all the criteria.  We now look forward to further developments and initiatives led by our fantastic Eco Warriors.
