GEOGRAPHY
Geography is delivered via Mantle of the Expert and dilemma-led learning. Children are taught geographical skills through problem solving and real life experiences. This is so that the curriculum delivery is relevant and is meaningful, not just a series of discrete lessons. Children can then make links across other subjects in the National Curriculum. Opportunities to promote pupils’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural development are also planned into lessons.
IMPLEMENTATION
This will be done through:
- High quality teaching
- Effective long and medium term planning to ensure skills progression following the Chris Quigley 'Essentials' Curriculum
- Effective use of resources
- Children will be given the opportunity to gain new skills
- Using the outdoors whenever possible.
IMPACT
We hope that this will ensure that children feel equipped with geographical skills which can be applied for children to be lifelong learners.
